Chaga tea and Chaga latte
Chaga, also known as the "black gold of the forest," is a popular functional mushroom with a multitude of health-promoting properties.
Here are two delicious and simple recipes to incorporate Chaga into your diet:
1. Chaga Tea
Ingredients
- 2-3 tbsp dried Chaga
- 4 cups of water
- Optional: sweetener to taste (e.g., yacon syrup, agave syrup, or maple syrup)
Preparation
- Place the Chaga powder and water into a pot.
- Bring the water to a boil and then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer.
- Let the Chaga simmer on the stove for about 1 to 2 hours to release the valuable nutrients from the mushroom.
- Strain the tea through a sieve or a nut milk bag/tea bag.
- Sweeten to taste and serve warm.
2. Chaga Latte
Ingredients
- 1 cup almond milk (or another plant-based milk of your choice)
- 1 teaspoon Chaga powder
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil or coconut butter
- optional: sweetener to taste (e.g., maple syrup, date syrup, or yacon syrup)
Preparation
- Warm the almond milk in a small pot, but do not let it come to a boil.
- Add the Chaga powder and coconut oil or coconut butter to the warm almond milk.
- Use a whisk to mix the ingredients well until the Chaga powder and coconut oil are completely dissolved.
- If desired, sweeten the Chaga latte with a sweetener of your choice.
- Pour the Chaga latte into a cup and enjoy it warm.
Note: Chaga is a caffeine-free mushroom, so Chaga tea or Chaga latte is an excellent substitute for your usual coffee or tea.
