Wakame (Organic & Raw) 20 g

The brown algae Wakame has been harvested and eaten for centuries off the coasts of China, Korea, and Japan, and is an important part of the daily diet. Especially in miso soups, the savory algae, which tastes slightly of the sea, has become indispensable. Our Wakame is gently dried. In water, the dried algae swell significantly and increase in volume.

Iodine and Consumption Recommendation:
Average iodine content: 173.9 mg/kg1 dried algae / 34.2 mg/kg rehydrated algae.

Approx. 1 g (2 teaspoons) of dried algae and approx. 4 g of rehydrated algae (according to instructions*) correspond to 100% of the recommended daily intake of iodine of max. 150 μg/day (EU Nutrient Reference Value). Seaweed is naturally rich in iodine. Excessive iodine intake can lead to thyroid dysfunction. Therefore, it is recommended to rehydrate the seaweed before consumption to reduce the iodine content.

*Hydration: Soak the Wakame strips in fresh water for approx. 5-10 minutes, change the water and soak again for 5 minutes, then rinse.
