Cocoa is one of the most important treasures of our time. Even for the Mayans
and Aztecs, cocoa beans were considered a true treasure and even served as
currency. Cocoa beans grow on shrub-like cocoa trees
(Theobroma cacao L.), which can grow up to 15 meters high and today thrive in many
tropical regions of the world. The pod-like fruits contain inside
several rows of seeds, the actual cocoa beans.

Our cocoa comes from Peru, a country of origin known for its particularly high
cocoa quality. Peruvian cocoa is one of the finest varieties
worldwide. It contains fewer bitter substances and acid and thus impresses with
a pleasantly mild, balanced taste.

The cocoa beans are only lightly fermented and then gently
dried. This way, the valuable ingredients are preserved as best as possible.
