Description

The guarana plant (Paullinia cupana) is a species of liana from the Amazon region and belongs to the soapberry family (Sapindaceae).
The fruits contain the guarana seed, from which guarana powder is obtained. These contain a considerable amount of caffeine (3.9 g/100 g)*, which corresponds to about 5 times that of a coffee bean.

Guarana has a decisive advantage: the caffeine is bound to tannins, which causes it to be released more slowly. This results in a longer-lasting caffeine effect (4-6 hours) compared to coffee, for example, as well as the particularly good tolerability of guarana.
Thanks to these properties, guarana is a wholesome alternative to conventional caffeinated beverages and a popular energy kick, not only among the physically active!

The South American liana species is now so well-known and in demand that it is no longer only available in its "pure" form, but also as an ingredient in chewing gum, sweets, and fitness drinks.

Recommended Use
