Tiger Nuts (Raw) 220 g

The tigernut, also known as "chufa," is a plant species of the genus Cyperus in the sedge family (Cyperaceae). This perennial herbaceous plant can reach heights of up to 60 cm and bears white flowers.

The tigernut is the tuberous fruit of the tigernut plant and has been used and valued in large parts of Africa for centuries. These brown, pea-sized tubers are known in France as "Amandes de terre" and in Spain as "Chufa".

They are gluten-free and a tasty alternative for allergy sufferers. They also have a high fiber content (13.9 g/100 g)* and are naturally pleasantly sweet. In short, the tuberous fruit tastes like a mixture of hazelnut and almond.

The skin of the tigernuts is removed using a mechanical process. The remaining tigernut therefore has an uneven surface. However, peeled tigernuts are much softer than unpeeled tigernuts and pleasant to eat.
